Do You Own An Older Home? Have The Chimney Inspected!

Updated: Mar 14

If you just purchased and older home, read the following information:

Deterioration: Aging bricks and mortar can lead to structural weaknesses.

Creosote Buildup: Older chimneys may have substantial creosote accumulation, increasing fire risk.

Obstructions: Bird nests or debris can block old chimneys, hindering airflow. This is due to not having a chimney cap.

Inefficient Drafting: Worn liners or design flaws can cause poor ventilation.

Leaks: Degraded flashing and masonry can lead to water leaks.

Before you light the first fire in an old home, be sure to have it inspected by Genesis Chimney, our certified inspectors can provide assurance either that the fireplace is safe to use or that repair of some kind is needed. By taking this precaution, you can help to ensure the safety of your family and the further enjoyment of your wonderful old house.
